In January, more than 5.3 million people, or nearly half the South Sudanese population, were struggling to find enough food each day. Prolonged dry spells, flooding - but, also, the ongoing violence - have all had an impact. The UN and other humanitarian agencies are struggling to provide basic necessities to those in need.
