South African court adjourns Zuma's graft case to June

Former South African president Jacob Zuma has appeared in court to face corruption charges relating to a $2.5 billion arms deal. Zuma later told a crowd outside the court that he would be proven innocent in the long running case that re-surfaced after his fall from power. The 75-year-old, whose scandal-plagued nine years in office were marked by economic stagnation and credit downgrades, faces 16 charges including fraud, racketeering and money laundering.

To Niger now and the West African country has officially inaugurated the Hamani Diori interchange.The President of the Republic of Niger Mouhamadou Issoufo officiated the event. The bridge which is the first of its kind in the country was constructed at an estimated $79.3 m. Its construction is part of an endowment program of the country and is expected to ease traffic and push economic growth. Niger is on a mission to rapidly improve infrastructure in the capital, Niamey.
